In the smartphone market today, the HTC One X is one of the more capable handsets you can get your hands on at the moment. In fact, for a time, the HTC One X was considered as the king of the hill in the smartphone competition because it was the only quad-core powered smartphone available in the market back then. The reign of the handset was only cut short when Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S III, another quad-core beast, and leveled the quad-core playing field.
Looking back, the HTC One X was in fact the world’s first smartphone to be powered by a quad-core processor under the hood. This dates back to late last year when the handset was still known by its codename, the HTC Edge. At that time, other manufacturers were still wrapping up their plans to come up with quad-core powered smartphones but HTC already made it a reality and gave us the HTC Edge.
The HTC Edge moniker however did not stick and got changed a couple of times before the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer unveiled the handset at Mobile World Congress 2012 at Barcelona back in February as the HTC One X which made it officially the world’s first quad-core smartphone. AT&T was on the scene at that time and was quick to pick up on the popularity of the handset and its impressive components and capabilities. The wireless provider immediately had the handset added on to its lineup of Android-powered devices and gave it the AT&T HTC One X 4G moniker. Since then, the quad-core HTC handset became one of the hottest selling smartphones of the carrier and has recently snagged the top 2 spot from the Nokia Lumia 900 4G on the said bestsellers list of AT&T.
Last week, word on the street is that AT&T already has plans of slashing the price point of the HTC One X 4G. if you have been eyeing the handset for quite some time now but haven’t gotten around to parting with your hard-earned dinero, now is the best time to do so because the rumors did pan out and AT&T has given the HTC One X 4G a huge price drop. As it stands, the HTC One X 4G can now be had for only $99.99 with a new two-year service agreement with the wireless provider.
As for the HTC One X 4G, the handset already runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system and this draws power from the QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset of the handset. This SoC gives the HTC One X 4G a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The handset’s storage space comes up to 16GB while its display is a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 panel with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 resolution. The handset’s camera department is just as impressive with its rear-facing 8MP shooter and front 1.3MP video chat camera.
