If you happen to have Verizon for your wireless provider but can no longer wait for the arrival of the HTC One on the shelves of the carrier, then you can opt for the next best thing in the Android lineup of Big Red – the HTC Droid DNA.
For those not familiar with the handset, the HTC Droid DNA is the entry of the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer to the phablet category of the smartphone competition and is designed to compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Although the handset is a bit disadvantaged because of its slightly smaller 5.0-inch display compared to the Samsung phablet’s 5.5-inch panel, the HTC Droid DNA comes with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. In addition to that, its slightly smaller display gives way to a more pocketable chassis – which to some is a whole lot more important than screen real estate.

For the longest time, the HTC Droid DNA is the hero smartphone of HTC over at Big Red but the imminent arrival of the HTC One, the current flagship device of the manufacturer, on the shelves of the carrier means that one way or the other, the HTC Droid DNA will be headed to retirement soon. And to ensure that interest on the handset is still high, Verizon decided to slash the price of the handset with the deal it has right now.
As it stands, those interested in making the HTC Droid DNA their next mobile weapon of choice can now do so at a more affordable price point because Big Red has given the handset a huge price cut. At the moment, the HTC Droid DNA can now be had for almost free provided that you buy the handset from the authorized online resellers of the wireless provider. Of course, this also means that you will be made to sign a new two-year service agreement with Big Red in the process but that will be negligible because you are getting a very capable device with all the bells and whistles you need for a price point that is almost free.
For those not familiar with what the HTC Droid DNA has to offer, the handset reached official status when it was unveiled by HTC back in November last year. The handset also made its debut in the shelves of Big Red for public consumption during the same month.
Under the hood, the operation of the HTC Droid DNA is powered by a QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon S4 chipset. The computing muscle needed by the handset for a smooth operation is generated by the HTC Droid DNA’s quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 2GB of RAM. In terms of storage space, the HTC Droid DNA comes with 16GB of internal memory but it sadly doesn’t come with support for memory expansion. Display-wise, the handset sports a 5.0-inch Super LCD3 panel with a 1920 x 1080 resolution while its camera department is just as remarkable with its rear 8MP shooter and front 2.1MP snapper.
