Google developer devices such as the LG Nexus 4 are always a hit among our smartphone-crazed brethren because these handsets are always first in line to get whatever updates Google releases. This is because they run a fully-stock, pure Vanilla version of the Android operating system with no custom user interface overlaid atop the OS itself to complicate and mess up (and of course, unnecessary delay) the update process. As such, the LG Nexus 4, the current flagship device of Google, is already running the latest iteration of the Android operating system which was just released a couple of weeks back.
Be that as it may, no smartphone is perfect, not even the vaunted LG Nexus 4 although we can easily look the other way when talking about the handset’s little imperfections because of the great price tag attached to its retail package along with the cool features that can be enjoyed when playing with the handset. Going back to the quirks of the LG Nexus 4, one of the more noticeable snags of the handset is the alleged purple lens flare affecting the shooter of the device.
This is the same issue observed on the camera of the iPhone 5 when early adopters of the handset complained about the purple lens flare effect seen on stills snapped using the shooter of the device. Looking back, Apple even said that it is a normal behavior on the camera of the handset and with that, we can already accept it as a fact after seeing the same issue on the shooter of the LG Nexus 4.
The proof is a Photosphere shot uploaded on Google+ showing an image captured with the LG Nexus 4 showing the same purple lens flare effect whenever taking pictures under bright lights. Sad to say, there is no known solution as of the moment for this quirk so I guess users of the LG Nexus 4 have to tough it out when taking images in brightly-lit conditions.
Regardless of this, the LG Nexus 4 is still a hot piece of gadget and you can definitely ignore its camera issues once you take a look at what’s underneath its hood. For starters, the handset is already running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest version of the Android operating system. This is powered by the handset’s QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon S4 chipset which comes with a quad-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a staggering 2GB of RAM. The handset can be had in an 8GB or 16GB variant in terms of storage space while its display is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus capacitive multitouch panel with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. Not only that, the display of the LG Nexus 4 is fashioned from Gorilla Glass 2 making it impervious from scratches and dings. Its camera department on the other hand is composed of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
