The Motorola Droid Mini recently received a substantial reduction in retail price, and is currently available for one penny on contract at select online retailers like the Amazon Wireless store. That is not all the good news which the phone has received as of late, as there is a new camera update headed to the handset. The Motorola Droid Mini is part of a lineup which includes the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX, phones which are respectively ultra-skinny and ultra long-lasting.
The Motorola Droid Mini can be purchased at a reduced price starting at one penny, saving you up to $49.98 over carrier prices.
The Droid Mini does a good job of borrowing from the slim and long-lasting traits of its two siblings, and all three handsets were launched simultaneously a few months ago. The Droid Mini delivers the largest megapixel count of any camera found on a previous Droid smartphone, at 10.0 megapixels, and also delivers the ClearPixel technology from Motorola which that company says captures more light, reduces noise and makes clearer pictures.
The Motorola Moto X recently received a camera update, and the Droid Mini is next in line. The Motorola Droid Mini 4G runs on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States, and was slated to receive the camera upgrade this past week. Punit Soni is vice president of Motorola products, and he confirmed the camera update was indeed in the process of being sent to all North American Droid Mini smartphone owners. He also noted that the camera upgrade would hit the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX as well.
While the 10.0 megapixel camera on the back of the Droid mini handset is already an upgrade over that found on previous Droid smartphones, enhancements to speed, autofocus, true color reproduction and other features have been included with this latest camera update. Alongside the camera boost are tweaks to the touch-free Google Now voice recognition system for quicker and more accurate responsiveness.
Verizon has also chipped in with their own compatibility upgrades, improving overall call and audio quality to the largest 4G LTE network in the United States, covering over 440 markets. VP Soni did not give any specific dates as to the rollout, but checking your notifications frequently should alert you when it is time to download. Motorola has released the update, but Verizon in the past has been notoriously slow in rolling out software upgrades. The popularity of the Motorola Droid Mini 4G as a compact, light and slim handset with a large, high-resolution display will certainly be increased by the new one penny on contract price tag. The Droid Mini can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at just one penny.
