Before releasing the Droid DNA, HTC stated they wanted to improve on durability for their handsets. They did so by providing the DNA 4G with a tough polycarbonate unibody, while also making the handset slim and light. Smartphone shoppers these days also prefer an attractive handset to a functional one, and without sacrificing multifunctional abilities, the Droid DNA 4G has been designed with an attractive ultra-matte finish and very distinctive red side grills. A seamless laminated screen has been added which effectively eliminates reflection, and the DNA 4G offers built-in wireless charging support.
The 441 color pixels located over each inch of display space offered the highest designation of any smartphone when the HTC Droid DNA 4G debuted last year. That is still easily one of the highest pixel densities found on any handset, comparing very favorably to best-selling smartphones like the Apple iPhone 5 (326 ppi) and the Galaxy S III (306 ppi). Apple finally has delivered a 4.0 inch screen with their iPhone 5, and the Galaxy S III offers 4.8 inches, both bested by the 5.0 inch Full HD display on the Droid DNA 4G smartphone.
The multimedia package on the Droid DNA handset is exceptional, including a powerful Adreno 320 graphics processor, 1.5 GHz Snapdragon quad core central processor, 2.0 GB of RAM memory and exclusive Beats Audio sound system. To show off the handset’s many talents, HTC has included the HD fantasy realm game Reign of Amira as a pre-install that is ready for use out-of-the-box. With such a large screen and impressive hardware package, the phone is still light at 4.87 ounces (138 g), and slim at 0.38 inches (9.73 mm).
The large 5.0 inch ImageChip ISP S-LCD 3 display delivers a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, and is protected by a second generation layer of Gorilla Glass. Up to 12.6 hours of talk time can be achieved from a full battery charge on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system,16 GB of onboard storage space is present, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides special effects and multiple customization options. Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution, with a front facing chat cam offering video call support.
The HTC Droid DNA 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $19.99.
