htcone-silverHailed by multiple analysts and industry experts as one of the most powerful smartphones ever designed, the HTC One 4G Android smartphone has finally made it to Big Red. Verizon Wireless now offers the HTC One 4G for around $149 on contract at select online retailers. A simple checkup of the handset’s specs reveals a powerful combination of hardware and software, and the HTC One has been a best seller for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and now Verizon ever since it launched in the United States.

The Verizon HTC One can be purchased at a reduced sale price starting at $149.99, which can save you up to $50 over carrier pricing.

And even though Sprint has finally launched a 4G LTE network in the US, and AT&T has offered one for some time, Verizon provides the undisputed largest and fastest 4G LTE system of any wireless service provider in the States. The company covers more than 440 major markets, and is tweaking their system all the time. To finally have the powerful HTC One 4G smartphone as an offering for their customers is an important feather in the cap for Verizon Wireless.

Now that you know the HTC One runs on a speedy and fast system, let’s take a look at individual specifications. Environmentalists will be happy that independent testing lab UL Environment has praised the HTC One 4G as containing “environmentally preferable materials with a minimal environmental impact.” And lazy multitaskers like myself will enjoy the built-in infrared sensor which allows you to use the handset as a remote control for your HDTV and home theater system.

HTC has created a new camera technology they call the UltraPixel, and this combines a 4.0 megapixel camera with an optical lens system and advanced CMOS Image Sensor to capture 300% more light than the typical smartphone camera with 8.0 or 13.0 megapixel lenses. The HTC One smartphone also delivers the highest pixel density of any mobile handset currently, with a full 16 million colors spread across the display at the rate of 468 color pixels over each inch of screen space.

Beats Audio is on board for sound enhancement, and the HTC One running on Verizon has been built with dual front facing speakers. The phone offers NFC, DLNA, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity options, and measures a skinny 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness. The Full HD display is large at 4.70 inches, delivering a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. A second generation layer of Corning Gorilla Glass offers scratch resistance, and a single charge can produce up to 16.0 hours of talk time and 8.5 hours of video playback. A 1.7 GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 CPU powers the phone, a generous 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as is 32 GB of built-in data storage space. The Verizon HTC One can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $149.99.
