Motorola Droid Razr Maxx update: When it comes to details about the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update schedule for the smartphones that are slated to get updated to the latest iteration of the Google mobile operating system, the information more often than not comes from the manufacturers themselves. There are cases however wherein a carrier would come out with information about the ICS update schedule for the handsets in its lineup such as in the case of Verizon which confirmed what we have heard from several manufacturers when the wireless provider released a list of smartphones in its stable that will get upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich.

When Motorola released the Ice Cream Sandwich update schedule for its smartphones and tablets, we saw the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx still in the Evaluation and Planning stage which meant that it could take time before ICS finally hits the handset. There was a rumor that circulated late last week though that intimated that Ice Cream Sandwich could hit the device earlier than expected and this was in the form of a leaked screenshot of an internal Best Buy system claiming that the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will get its first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on April 4.
With the rumor spreading like wildfire, a lot of users of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx got really excited at the prospect of getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for their handsets ahead of the supposed projected schedule of Motorola itself. Sad to say, April 4 has come and gone and no Ice Cream Sandwich update was pushed out to the handset for that matter. Sad to say, it looks like the rumors about the April 4 ICS update for the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx did not pan out as expected because there were no reports of any kind that confirms that the rollout happened as leaked by Best Buy. If we are to put out two cents’ worth, we’d say that this is not entirely unexpected. Verizon has been known to post any kind of update on its support website and the absence of any reference to an ICS update for the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx in the past few days sort of smelled fishy and we were not, to say the least, entirely surprised when April 4 came and went with nary a peek from the supposed Ice Cream Sandwich update for the current Motorola flagship handset.
Several users of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx got in touch with the manufacturer via Twitter to get insight as to what is really happening. Unsurprisingly, the manufacturer had no comment about this and according to the manufacturer, no release date is currently available but it did say that there will be new information concerning the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx’s Ice Cream Sandwich update will be made public soon. And with the rumor about the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx getting upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich going kaput on us, we’re not exactly holding our breaths for ICS to land on the HTC Rezound on Firday as well. I would imagine Motorola / Verizon bases all updates solely on
Profit margins and quarterly sales… I would imagine a premature release might hurt sales of current inventory

Why didn’t Motorola put out a statement to squash the “rumor”, after the Best Buy statement, so us hopefuls wouldn’t have expect it. We probably won’t see ICS until the end of this year anyway, and just in time for the new one to come out, Jelly Bean! It’s so nice to be so far behind!!!!!!!! I should have bought a Nexus!
