At the moment, the Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the more popular handsets in the Windows Phone ecosystem. This is not surprising at all given the fact that this is one of the two high-end devices currently available on the platform today and is the flagship device of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer for the Windows Phone platform. And we all know that with its flagship status comes impressive components and impressive capabilities which is why the Nokia Lumia 920 is such a big hit among the Windows Phone crowd.
However, word on the street is that despite the popularity of the Nokia Lumia 920 which is exclusively released by AT&T in US shores, Verizon’s Nokia Lumia 822 which is only a mid-range device has managed to get better sales performance compared to the Nokia flagship device. The information comes from a report released by AdDuplex based on data gathered from Windows Phone applications that make use of the Ad Duplex SDK.
With that in mind, Ad Duplex managed to collect data from around 389 Windows Phone applications and the data gathered was used to come up with an interesting picture of the sales performance of Windows Phone devices along with how the Windows Phone 8 operating system has grown on a global scale.
In the report, it was shown that the Nokia Lumia 822, a mid-range handset released by Verizon in US shores, managed to surpass the flagship AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 in terms of market share in our side of the world. Currently, the Nokia Lumia 822 has a 21% market share compared to the 18% of the Nokia Lumia 920. Pundits claim that this bigger slice of the pie for the Nokia Lumia 822 is caused by the fact that the handset is being offered free on contract by Big Red while the Nokia Lumia 920 will require you to fork over some dinero if you want to get your hands on the flagship device. not only that, the report from AdDuplex has shown the impressive growth of the Nokia Lumia 822’s market share which only stood at 10% back in January. And considering the midrange status of the Nokia Lumia 822, this is a major accomplishment because the Nokia Lumia 920 has more share of the digital ink because of its flagship status.
As for the specs sheet of the Nokia Lumia 822, the handset relies on its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation while a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM work together in generating the computing muscle needed by the handset for a flawless performance. The storage space onboard the Nokia Lumia 822 is rated at 16GB and this can still be expanded using the handset’s microSD card slot. As for its display, the Nokia Lumia 822 sports a 4.3-inch AMOLED panel with a 480 x 800 resolution while its camera department boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a fron 1.2MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
