In today’s smartphone world, there is no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S III, the current flagship device of the Korean electronics giant, is not only one of the most powerful devices in the market today, it is also the most popular. Right at the onset, the popularity of the handset was already apparent. Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S III reached 9 million units in just a couple of days after it was unveiled. Now that the handset has made its debut in the shelves, another milestone was attained by the handset when it was announced that sales figures for the Samsung Galaxy S III already broke the 20 million mark and the handset managed to do this in just a hundred days.
The Samsung Galaxy S III for ATT is on sale now starting at $139.99.
Initially, when the Samsung Galaxy S III finally made its debut in the shelves back in the latter parts of May, there were only two available color options for the handset – Pebble Blue and Marble White. There were then rumors that a black Samsung Galaxy S III was spotted in the London 2012 Olympics while AT&T in US shores had exclusivity over the Garnet Red version of the handset. To put the rumors to rest, Samsung came out in the open and announced that the Samsung Galaxy S III will be made available in four new colorways – Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Grey.
However, it looks like Samsung has no plans of stopping there either. In fact, it has already been confirmed that a version of the Samsung Galaxy S III in a pink paint job will be made available in the shelves of Samsung’s hometown of Korea by next week. However, there is no solid word coming from Samsung if the Pink Samsung Galaxy S III will be made available globally to join the other colored ATT Samsung Galaxy S III devices or if it will be a Korean exclusive only.
As for the Samsung Galaxy S III, the aesthetics of the device is overshadowed by the fact that the components in the internals of the handset are pretty impressive. The version of the handset that got released in our side of the world relies on its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation. The computing muscle needed by the handset on the other hand is delivered by the handset’s dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and its 2GB of RAM thereby leading to a more snappy and buttery smooth experience on the tablet.
The handset is made available in a 16GB and 32GB version in terms of storage capacity but a user still has the option to expand the memory of the handset by using the Samsung Galaxy S III’s dedicated microSD card slot. As for its display, the Samsung Galaxy S III sports a massive 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The dual-shooter configuration of the handset is also pretty impressive with its rear-facing 8MP shooter and a front 1.9MP video call camera.
