Samsung Galaxy Nexus news: In terms of 4G LTE coverage in US shores, Verizon Wireless is leading the pack given the fact that it has the largest LTE network in our side of the world. AT&T is in the second spot but is seriously lagging behind in terms of expansion while Sprint is about to break into the LTE market with its network reportedly getting lit up later this year.
Though Verizon has the widest LTE coverage, there are still a lot of our smartphone-crazed brethren who are still waiting for the blazing download speeds come to their respective areas. It is a good thing that Verizon has furious expansionist plans for its LTE network and the wireless provider has just announced that it has already put plans into place to expand its network in parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Lunnenburg in Massachusetts and Henniker in New Hampshire are included in the list along with Erie, Somerset, New Castle, Oil City, Franklin, Clarion and Barnesboro in Pennsylvania. Areas in Ohio that were included are Mansfield, Ashtabula, Toledo, Defiance, Lima, Bucyrus, Youngstown, Canton and Warren.
Sad to say, the wireless provider did not mention any exact time frame as to when this will happen but has confirmed that if you happen to live in any of the areas above, you can expect a 4G symbol to come up on your LTE-packing handset in the next couple of weeks. If you don’t have a 4G handset to take advantage of the LTE network of Verizon and your contract is up for renewal, then it is high time for you to take a closer look at the list of capable 4G LTE smartphones in the Android lineup of the wireless provider.
However, if you want the best smartphone to really make full use of the LTE network of Verizon, your first choice would have to be the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This is the current Google flagship device and already has Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system. It is a very capable device and the best part is that a very popular online retailer will let you have the handset for only $49.99 with the usual new two-year subscription with the wireless provider included in the package.
For the uninformed, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus packs a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 chipset under the hood and this SoC brings to the device a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM to ensure the smoothness of the handset’s operation. It has 32GB of internal memory while its SuperAMOLED display measures 4.65 inches and comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The only point of contention given the fact that it is after all a flagship device is the mediocre camera department of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with only a 5MP main autofocus shooter at its back panel joined by a front-facing 1.3MP webcam out front.
