Back in the day when Samsung launched the first generation Galaxy Note late last year, a lot of doubters underestimated the capability of the phablet to actually make it big and leave a mark in the smartphone competition. After all, the Samsung Galaxy Note is a niche device and a lot of people felt that they weren’t ready yet for a device this massive. However, Samsung had a surprise in store for everybody.
Once the smartphone-buying population realized the benefits of the handset’s massive screen real estate plus the fact that it packed impressive components under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Note instantly became a hit. Though not as popular as the Samsung flagship device, the phablet still made it big in the market racking up sales of 10 million units since hitting the shelves. The phablet became so successful that the Korean electronics giant decided to immediately put together a successor which it announced a couple of weeks ago – the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Unlike its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note II didn’t have that much detractors and was immediately accepted by the smartphone-buying population as a more than worthy successor to the first generation Galaxy Note. In fact, such is the trust of Samsung in its second generation phablet that JK Shin, head of Samsung’s mobile division, already came out with the prediction that sales of the Samsung Galaxy Note II will eventually break the 20 million barrier. However, this is a conservative estimate and more of a long-term target, said Shin.
Although it is a given that the Samsung Galaxy Note II will see a global release, it is only now that the confirmation that it will eventually get released in Canadian shelves was given. This, after several Canadian carriers such as Mobilcity, WIND and Telus have finally announced that the second generation Samsung phablet will indeed hit their respective shelves. Sad to say, no launch date or pricing information has been made available as of yet but we will surely keep you updated as more details become available.
As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the second generation Samsung phablet was unveiled last month and is expected to hit the shelves in US shores in mid-November so there are speculations that the handset will also hit the shelves in Canadian territories around that time. As for the components under its hood, the Samsung Galaxy Note II relies on its Exynos 4412 Quad chipset to power its operation while the computing power it requires is delivered by the phablet’s quad-core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and 2GB of RAM. The phablet will be made available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB in terms of storage space with an option for memory expansion. Its stand-out feature remains its 5.5-inch SuperAMOELD HD display with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration includes a rear-facing 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.9MP video call and self-portrait camera.
