The Galaxy Note II smartphone benefited from a recent Samsung announcement, as it appears the big-screened phablet will be receiving a bump up to the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 operating system in October. The handset with one of the largest smartphone screens ever designed will begin to receive Android 4.3 next month, and the roll-out will depend upon your particular carrier. The Galaxy Note II was recently spotted at the select online retailers with a $99 on contract price tag.

The firmware update was announced by Samsung at an UnPacked event, and improvements include Bluetooth Low Energy, OpenGL ES 3.0, a better dial pad, better text input and more language support. There have been rumors of a Samsung TouchWiz user interface error that did not like the Android 4.3 OS update, and those issues have been resolved. Also on board is Samsung’s allowance of a connectivity feature to the Galaxy Gear smartwatch accessory. The Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4 smartphones are also receiving Android 4.3 in October.
Google has already announced the presence of Android 4.4 KitKat in testing stages, with no confirmed release date. Delivering a large 5.55 inch display with True HD resolution at 720 x 1,080 pixels, the Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone also supports a unique multitasking capability. Your display can actually be divided into two smaller screens, those screens can be resized, and this allows you to carry on two different operations at the same time. The Galaxy Note II is also popular due to its native handwriting recognition technology and smart stylus integration.
You can doodle, draw, take notes and even create original artwork right on your display, and the S Pen stylus is thicker and longer than the model on the original Galaxy Note, making it feel more pen-like. Despite the large size the Note II is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in profile. The display has been designed with a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is the same ratio most HD movies are recorded in. A full 15.0 hours of talk time can be delivered from a single charge, and the brain trust is built around a powerful quad core CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz. The Samsung Exynos 4 chip set joins a quad core GPU, 16 GB of onboard storage and 2.0 GB of RAM in the Galaxy Note II hardware package.
The phone’s camera package includes a front facing chat cam and rear snapper of 8.0 megapixels, with that rear shooter recording video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution). A Stereo Radio with RDS is present, as is NFC wireless support, and low-light capture is enhanced with a built-in LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI). Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and DLNA wireless connections are all supported, and the Galaxy Note II smartphone approaches its one year anniversary as still one of the most popular smartphones in the entire mobile marketplace.
