galaxynote3Samsung has been slowly getting the popular smartphones, phablets and tablets that it offers consumers, updated to the latest version of the Android operating system.  The latest to get a release date is the Galaxy Note 3 for those that have it in the United States.  The initial reports suggested that the rollout was going to start this week and since the Galaxy S4 got updated to Android 4.4 on the Sprint network, the first place could be there.  Samsung’s website revealed an update kernel from Android 4.4 on the Sprint Galaxy Note 3 model and that is a good hint of things to come.

If you are on the Sprint network you have been blessed with quick update windows compared to some of the other major mobile carriers in the United States and it looks like this one won’t be any different.  Sprint will typically take to the support community on its website and update subscribers and new customers there when a new update is ready to be released.  That is where you can find the update announcement and full change log for the device that you own, should it be in line for an update of course.

The Galaxy Note 3 update coming to the Sprint network is not the only one that has been reported this week.  In fact, the fifth largest mobile carrier also announced the same update for users on the US Cellular network.  The US Cellular network covers more than 30 states with most of them in the central United States area.  A leaked document from US Cellular shows that the update could be ready as early as this week, so if you are on the US Cellular network, take a look through your settings and see if you are ready for the download.

US Cellular is looking to push the Android 4.4 KitKat update out to users of the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 at the same time.  Update notifications can take some time to get one your device, so keep in mind that if you do not have it yet, that is the reason.  Mobile carriers typically will send out the update in stages, increasing the number of users with each one.  This gives them more control of the number of users with the update and that way they can track bugs that might appear along the way.

  1. The phone in the photo bares only passing resemblance to my note 3?
