galaxynote3As the release date for the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 3 gets closer, more information is being released about the device.  At first the next generation Note device was rumored to be coming with optical image stabilization in the camera sensor, but a new report is suggesting that might not be the case.  Due to component shortages, the optical image stabilization is going to be missing from the camera, but another component could be put into its place to compensate for the loss of quality there.  Instead, the Galaxy Note 3 could come with 4K Ultra HD video recording.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.

The next generation in video recording is the 4K Ultra HD which brings a resolution of 3840×2160 to the device compared to the 1920×1080 resolution that you see on more mobile devices these days.  If you take a step back, you might have also noticed that the next handset from Sony is set to have a 4K Ultra HD video recording capabilities as well.  The Sony Honami, or Xperia Z1, will be getting released on the same day the Galaxy Note 3 will be as well.   Moving towards the 4K Ultra HD recording seems to be the next step in progression from 1080p.

One problem with 4K Ultra HD recording that worries consumers is the fact that each video takes up a lot more space on the internal memory.  Not to mention the memory issues, even if you can record in 4K Ultra HD, that does not mean that you will be able to view the video without downscaling the resolution to some degree.  Because Samsung moved the lowest internal memory to 32GB, could be an indicator that they were getting ready for the storage of 4K HD video recordings.  At this point in the mobile market, with recording video or taking photos, it does not pay to have less than 32GB of space on your device.

For obvious reasons it would be nice to be able to record in 4K HD as the clarity and quality would be that much better in the end.  If the camera does not have the optical image stabilization, any shift or shake of the device would render the video useless due to camera shake.  Other cameras on the market are including optical image stabilization on smartphones and it has been a welcomed addition so far.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
