Being offered in Carbon Blue or Ceramic White colors, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4G Android “Phablet” (smartphone/tablet) on the new AT&T 4G LTE wireless network recently received a retail price drop to $229 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan. And for those Samsung Galaxy Note owners and owners-to-be, the handset that delivers an experience much like a tablet married to a smartphone just received some good news from Samsung. That Korean smartphone manufacturer recently released their list of mobile devices that would receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, and the Galaxy Note made the cut.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy Note starting at $229.

Specific dates for the devices receiving the rollout were not solidified, with Samsung only promising “coming very soon” as an arrival date for the ICS OS over the air transfer. The Samsung Galaxy Note debuts the largest 4G smartphone display at 5.30 inches, and that touch screen supports the integrated S Pen smart stylus for handwriting recognition capabilities. The S Pen allows you to write-to-text, write-to-email, take notes, create original artwork in your own hand, and even copy and paste images or write messages on video and still pictures.

Aside from the S Pen smart stylus capabilities, the handset carries an impressive hardware package, and at the cornerstone of that hardware profile is a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip suite, including a 1.5 GHz dual core Scorpion central processor and Adreno 220 graphics chip. The Samsung Galaxy Note delivers above average pixel density of 285 pixels per inch to the 4G-best 5.30 inch display, and visuals are rendered in more than 16 million unique colors on that Super AMOLED screen.

Talk time from a single charge of the oversized 2,500 mA battery runs 10.0 to 12.0 hours, and 1.0 GB of RAM memory comes built-in, as well as 16 GB of built-in storage. The high-resolution camera combo mirrors that of the Galaxy Note’s cousins, the Samsung Galaxy S II devices, with an 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the handset and a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam. That rear device comes equipped with an LED flash, offers autofocus, smile detection, multi-shot and panorama features, and records video in 1080P HD resolution, while the chat cam can snap portrait snapshots and handle video calls. Providing Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Picasa pre-installed access, the Galaxy Note 4G Android smartphone/tablet is one of a few devices to also offer Near Frequency Communications (NFC) support out-of-the-box as well.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy Note starting at $229, a $50 savings over the AT&T direct pricing.
