The Samsung Galaxy Note II arrived with an even a larger screen than was delivered by its big-screen predecessor, the original Galaxy Note phablet. Analysts and industry experts said that the screen on the Galaxy Note 4G was too big to be popular, and then the handset went out and became an immediate bestseller. Arriving on October 25 on the brand-new Sprint 4G LTE network in the US, the Samsung Galaxy Note II recently hit the 5 million units sold mark.
The Galaxy Note II is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.
With 1 million units sold in its native country of South Korea, estimates are that a full 10 million units should be sold globally by the end of the first quarter in 2013. The original Galaxy Note took a full 10 months to hit the 10 million unit mark, and some of the success of the current Galaxy Note II has to be credited to the quad core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and true HD 16 to 9 display aspect ratio.
This is the first handset created by Samsung that delivers the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box. Improved graphics, better camera operation, a faster and smoother user interface and upgraded Google Now are all hallmarks of the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS. The smart stylus S Pen that debuted with the original Galaxy Note smartphone/tablet has returned, as has the ability to draw, doodle, take messages and write text messages and other text in your own handwriting.
That Jelly Bean operating system meshes with the Samsung TouchWiz UI, and is delivered in a slim profile on the Galaxy Note II, which measures 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness. The 5.55 inch Super AMOLED screen is the largest found on any smartphone, and resolution runs high at 720 x 1,280 pixels. Device input is supported through both the S Pen smart stylus, and multitouch, capacitive hand gestures. On the Sprint 4G LTE network, the Samsung Galaxy Note II delivers a full 15.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge.
Standby battery power runs for 12.0 days, and the handset is powered by a speedy quad core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex A9 CPU. An ARM Mali 400 MP4 quad core graphics processor is also present, as is 2.0 GB of RAM system memory and 16 GB of built-in data storage. The handset also delivers a microSD slot for storage expansion. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and the front facing chat cam provides video call support. The Sprint Galaxy Note II also delivers a Stereo FM radio with RDS and YouTube video player out-of-the-box, and popular social networking applications Facebook, Picasa and Twitter are also pre-installed.
You can purchase the Galaxy Note II for a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
