When Samsung first came out with the original Samsung Galaxy Note, not everybody fell in love with the massive phablet all at once. In fact, the device is an acquired taste and only after you get used to its size and enjoy its bigger screen real estate will you think that the Samsung Galaxy Note is not so bad after all. Come to think of it, the original version of the phablet wasn’t even supposed to land in US shores – AT&T was only able to work with Samsung in getting the phablet to our side of the world.

However, the Samsung Galaxy Note is already on its way out now because its successor in the phablet category, the Samsung Galaxy Note II, has already been unveiled by Samsung. With the even more impressive capabilities of the phablet, it is only expected that carriers other than AT&T will also show interest on the Samsung Galaxy Note II for that matter.

However, it looks like a new player is joining the Samsung Galaxy Note II party in US shores and by that, we mean Sprint. An enterprising member of the XDA Developers forums was looking through some Samsung RDFs and came across a new yet-to-be-announced phone. For those not in the know, RDFs are the design and development specs for a given handset. Anyway, XDA member rwilco12 was going over some Sprint RDFs when he came across a device called SPH-L900.

We are all aware that Sprint uses SPH as a designation for its mobile devices – the Galaxy Nexus is SPH-L700 while the Samsung Galaxy S III is SPH-L710. The SPH-L900 is brand new and is said to be the version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II that will be released by Sprint. In addition to that, rwilco12 also managed to get his hands on the specs sheet of the handset, albeit an incomplete one. The specs are similar to the Galaxy Note II and this alone is more than enough of what we need to conclude that the device being mentioned in the RDF is indeed the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Of course, there is no pricing and availability info as to when we can expect the Samsung Galaxy Note II to make it to the shelves of Sprint but we are pretty sure that it will be a big hit there once this pans out.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II already packs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this draws power from the phablet’s Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. This SoC brings to the device a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2GB of RAM. The handset will be released in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB in terms of storage space but there is still an option to have this expanded. The display of the Samsung Galaxy Note II is now a bit bigger than its predecessor with its 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with its resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its camera department is just as impressive with its rear 8Mp shooter and front 1.9Mp video chat cam.

  1. Thank You

  2. Now its a hard decision on the Iphone 5 or the Sprint Galaxy Note II, Guess I will just have to wait till wed. to see the screen size of the New Iphone 5, I hope it is at least 4.5. We will all see on wed, although the blogs insist the screen will only be 4 inches.

  3. I have had it with AT&T and their data limits. I am eagerly waiting for the Note II to be available on Sprint so I can say good bye to the carrier that has served me for 15 years.

    Hurry up, Sprint!
