Samsung Galaxy Note II – Quad Core, 2.0 GB RAM, 4G Speeds

The Galaxy Note II handset was officially announced on September 19, and debuted on the T-Mobile US wireless network on October 24. The handset also hit the Sprint network in the United States, their first 4G LTE system, on October 25. Sprint is adding an additional 100 major metropolitan markets to their 4G LTE network by the end of the year, and T-Mobile has advertised speeds of up to an incredible 42 MB per second when the Galaxy Note II is operated inside their HSPA+ coverage areas. The handset makes its debut in your choice of either titanium gray or marble white.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is available at select online retailers for $120 less than carrier retail now starting at 299.99.

With the largest smartphone screen in the entire mobile marketplace, the handset is large. The Samsung Galaxy Note II measures 5.94 x 3.16 x 0.37 inches (151 x 80 x 9 mm) in size, weighing 6.3 ounces (179 g). One of only a few handsets to deliver the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system out-of-the-box, Samsung includes its TouchWiz UI Android overlay, supporting multitouch, capacitive gestures for device navigation. The handset can also be manipulated with the integrated smart stylus S Pen, which delivers handwriting recognition technology, allowing you to take notes, create original artwork, and add messages to videos and snapshots in your own handwriting.

The 5.55 inch Super AMOLED display delivers a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Visuals are reproduced in more than 16 million separate colors, and standard light and proximity sensors are built in. With 15.00 hours of talk time offered from a single charge of the oversized 3,100 mA battery on board, the Galaxy Note II delivers approximately twice the average 4G talk time. With one of the first quad core CPUs in a United States smartphone offering, the Samsung Galaxy Note II 4G builds its hardware package around a quad core 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 central processor.

The chip set is an Samsung Exynos 4 (4412) bundle, and an ARM Mali-400 MP4 (Quad-Core) GPU is also on board. The handset delivers double the average RAM memory of most 4G smartphones, at 2.0 GB, and 16 GB of data storage are built-in. A microSD slot has been provided for storage expansion. A 1.9 megapixel chat cam faces the Galaxy Note II user, and an 8.0 megapixel camcorder has been built into the back. That rear device comes with an integrated LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI) for low light camera operation, and records video in 1,080P HD resolution.
