galaxynote2createYou probably remember when the Samsung Galaxy Note 4G smartphone debuted with a 5.30 inch touchscreen. Industry analysts and supposed experts went crazy, stating that the display was way too large, making the phone way too large. All the handset did was go on to sell 10 million units and counting, pointing out that sometimes even the ‘experts’ are incorrect. Well the Galaxy Note II 4G tablet-style smartphone has arrived, bearing with it an even larger screen. The handset also boasts a powerful quad core processor, and returns the popular native handwriting recognition technology and smart stylus S Pen from its predecessor.

The Note II can be had for around $99 on contract, offered by select retailers like Amazon Wireless. And you had better purchase it quickly if you want to be able to tell your friends and family that you own the phone with the largest 4G smartphone display. The Galaxy Note 3 4G will probably receive an official announcement at Mobile World Congress, and it looks to launch sometime in February. The handset raises the display size bar even higher than its predecessor, claiming a full 6.30 inch capacitive touchscreen.

All the specs are not in for the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, and a launch date has not been determined. But we do know everything about the popular Galaxy Note II smartphone. Selling more than 5 million units in its first 2 months of availability, the handset hit the Sprint 4G LTE system on October 25 of last year. Jelly Bean 4.1 is on board, and even though the device contains a respectable hardware package and a large high-resolution screen, it is still slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). Samsung has added their popular TouchWiz UI Android overlay, and multitouch, capacitive gestures are supported.

The soon to be small-in-comparison display runs 5.55 inches, and is aligned in a true HD 16 to 9 aspect ratio. A layer of 2nd generation Corning Gorilla Glass protects the Galaxy Note II display against scratching, and resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels. Talk time is nearly double the industry average at 15.0 hours after a single battery charge, and a Samsung Exynos 4 microchip suite powers the handset. That includes a speedy quad core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex A9 CPU, as well as an ARM Mali-400 MP4 quad core graphics processor.

A full 2.0 GB of RAM memory has been installed, as has 16 GB of built-in storage. You can add extra storage via the microSD slot, which supports memory cards up to 64 GB. The Galaxy Note II 4G phablet records video in 1,080P HD resolution, comes equipped with a Stereo FM radio with RDS display features, a YouTube video player has been pre-installed and the handset offers NFC wireless support.
