The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket was one of the first handsets to deliver LTE connectivity to the new 4G LTE network of AT&T. The handset launched in October of last year, and has been a flagship device for AT&T’s 4G LTE network ever since. The large 4.50 inch display on the Samsung Skyrocket renders visuals in 207 pixels per inch and more than 16 million separate colors, and that Super AMOLED Plus screen supports capacitive, multitouch gestures. With an overall screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, that display is protected by an overlay of scratch resistant glass. The 1,850 mA battery on board delivers 7.00 hours of talk time from a single charge, and approximately 10.4 days standby.
The Galaxy S II Skyrocket recently received a retail price reduction to $39 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan at select retailers, and that handset offers high resolution video capture at 1,080P HD. The camcorder runs 8.0 megapixels, contains a built-in LED flash and video light, and offers autofocus, geo-tagging, panorama mode and smile detection features. Accompanying it in the camera combo is a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam that can also record video at 720P HD.
Popular online destinations Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Picasa are pre-installed and ready for use out-of-the-box. Bluetooth version 3.0 delivers stereo sound, and joins the proprietary YouTube video player in the multimedia package on board the handset. Google’s presence is felt throughout, with Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk and Picasa integration.
