The Samsung Galaxy S III handset has been launched worldwide now and even though it is top notch overall, some issues has been plaguing it recently. The issues were first noticed back in June and Samsung announced shortly after that a maintenance update was coming. A couple of updates have been released and it looks like some users are still suffering with a bad battery. For now and for impatient users, there might be a fix out there for you. Bug fixes like this are very risky and users should know that before venturing into the software without experience could be a bad thing and possibly damage the phone.

This fix does not require any software update or even that you root your phone first. In fact, even though it has been marked risky, it is quite easy and worthwhile if you are comfortable. The first thing you have to do is get into the Settings and once you are there you are going to want to navigate to the Wi-Fi area. Go ahead and select “advanced” and change the “Connect to Wi-Fi while asleep” setting to NEVER. The source of this tip said that this method has increased his/her battery life significantly. Before the fix, they claimed the battery would last around 8 hours on the Galaxy S III.

The update may not work for everyone and remember to weigh the risk of possibly messing something up while you are in the software. Granted this little fix seems to be pretty straight forward and worth the attempt to see if it makes a difference. The tip came in from a user that has the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, but that does not mean that it will not work on the United States model.

For the most part, the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III went very well in the United States. The phone hit all the major carriers at different times with a couple different variations, but reviews and sales numbers are looking good for the company. The Samsung Galaxy S III ships with an impressive list of features including the 2GB of RAM, huge 4.8-inch display and an 8MP camera on the back side. A, dual-core, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor keeps things snappy while the built in storage can be expanded another 32GB with the use of an microSD card.  You can buy the Samsung Galaxy S III starting at $149.
