When Samsung announced the Galaxy S III, its current flagship device, the manufacturer did not expect that the handset will reach unprecedented heights in terms of popularity. Granted that the predecessor of the Samsung Galaxy S III was also a hot handset during its time, the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer was sort of unprepared to the hotter than hot reception given to the Samsung Galaxy S III after it was unveiled. In fact, such is the popularity of the handset that the manufacturer even announced that preorders for the handset have already reached the 9 million mark after just a couple of days of its announcement.

Because of the overwhelming demand for the handset, it was only expected that Samsung will not be able to come up with enough units of the Samsung Galaxy S III to take care of the global demand for the handset. In fact, the launch of the handset got delayed on a global scale where some markets are still waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S III to make an appearance in their shelves.

Take the case of the Canadian version of the Samsung Galaxy S III. Initially planned to get released last June 20, Samsung Canada confirmed that there will be a 7-day delay before the handset will make it to the shelves. The handset is now “officially” available in territories north of the border but word on the street is that it is very hard to actually get your hands on a Samsung Galaxy S III handset for that matter.

Such is the case as well in US shores where the launch of the handset in the shelves of the major carriers also experienced delays. In the case of the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, the handset was initially planned to launch last June 21 but as we all know, that did not materialize. The next rumored date for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III from Sprint was July 1 and we finally have one rumor panning out because the handset has officially made its debut in the shelves of Sprint on the said date.

If you happen to have Sprint for your wireless provider of choice and have been eyeing the carrier’s version of the Samsung flagship device, you can now troop over to any Sprint brick and mortar store to get your hands on the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S III.

As for the handset, the circuitry of the Samsung Galaxy S III is based on a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which brings to the superphone a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a staggering 2GB of RAM. IT will be made available in a 16GB and a 32GB version in terms of internal storage with the option to have this expanded through the microSD card slot of the handset. Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S III packs a 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its shooting department is composed of a rear-facing 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.9MP video call camera.  You can buy the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III starting at $149 at select online retailers.
