Verizon Wireless has no problem with holding onto an update or a smartphone release a little longer than the rest of the mobile carriers in the United States and consumers know that. Being a part of the largest and most reliable 4G LTE network in the country has its own downside as well. One announcement that came along this week though should get some cheers from the Verizon Wireless loyal fan base. The company finally announced that it would be sending out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 from Samsung.

This update is coming many weeks after all of the other mobile carriers here in the United States sent it out and the delay can easily be blamed on the fact that Verizon tests and re-tests all software updates before sending them out to users. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however it does add weeks to the actual release date and that can sometimes upset users enough to jump ship to another mobile carrier. This update, however is happening and according to a leaked document, those in the United States were supposed to see this update in November.
Even though some users on other carriers did see the update, those on Verizon Wireless were left in the dark until this week. Samsung has not confirmed anything about the update, but Verizon Wireless has and some users have been reportedly getting the update notification as well. That is confirmation enough even if Samsung never mentions it at all. Verizon’s support pages have been updated to reflect the update and they are calling it version JSS15J.I535VRUCML1. The update not only brings Android more current, but it also comes with other enhancements and improvements for the phone.
According to the support pages on the Verizon Wireless website, the following things have been added to the Samsung Galaxy S3. Media Backup has been removed, you can now move apps from internal memory to SD card, camera supports “Sound and Shot”, share videos across 4 devices with Group Play, Multi-Windows has been enhanced, Lock Screen will allow access to music play buttons, more Bluetooth accessories are supported and roaming on the TELUS Network in Canada is now supported. “Starter Mode” has been relabeled Easy Mode and a few apps have been renamed by Verizon.
