With pre-orders soon to be available, and the official launch set for April 26, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has garnered much attention lately. Without even being currently available, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is still one of the most searched for smartphone names on the entire Internet. And rightfully so, since the Galaxy S4 comes on the heels of the extremely successful Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S II smartphones. The handset improves screen size to 4.99 inches, pixel density to 441 pixels per inch, and debuts an eight core Exynos 5 Octa processor in the international version.
The US version will reportedly be powered by a speedy quad core CPU, and offer new features like temperature and depth sensors. The Floating Touch and Hover hand gestures allow you to control your smartphone without even touching it, and the S Health and S Translator integration mean that the Galaxy S4 can help you live smarter and communicate better. The Galaxy S III was noteworthy because even though it delivered a large display and powerful hardware package, it was slim and light.
The Galaxy S4 follows effectively in those footsteps, weighing just 4.59 ounces (130 g). With dimensions of 5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches (136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm), the phone is also slimmer and more compact than other handsets with the same size large-screen display. The display in question runs 4.99 inches and is a Full HD model, offering a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. That screen uses over 16 million colors to render visuals, contains built-in light and proximity sensors for battery conservation, and is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass.
The US version of the Galaxy S4 is powered by a quad core ARM Cortex A15 CPU which has been clocked at 1.6 GHz, and 2.0 GB of RAM memory joins 16 GB of built-in closet space in the handset’s hardware package. That data storage can be enhanced using the built-in microSD slot, and the rear facing camcorder on the Galaxy S4 has received a 60% megapixel improvement up to 13.0 megapixels. That rear facing snapper provides excellent low light camera operation thanks to a built-in LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI).
The camcorder also provides digital image stabilization, digital zoom, a high dynamic range mode (HDR), extra-wide panorama mode, self timer and special effects package. Voice activated operation is also supported, and Samsung has included a 2.0 megapixel front facing chat cam in the handset’s camera combo. NFC wireless support is present out-of-the-box, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 4G Android smartphone can also be used as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for multiple devices.
