The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the most popular smartphones that the company launched last year besides the Galaxy Note 3 and there are millions of users that have been waiting for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software. Now that Samsung has finally released the software to the Galaxy S4, it is time to get ready for the Android 4.4 KitKat update which is expected soon. According to one online source, the Galaxy S4 is still in the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update phase, but Android 4.4 KitKat could start any day now.
Initial rumors put the Android 4.4 KitKat release sometime this month or even into the first week of March and that is actually the same timeline for the Galaxy S4 on some mobile carriers to get the Jelly Bean software. From this point, it will be interesting to see what mobile carriers get the update out and then are ready to accept the next one. On the other hand, some mobile carriers might wait until the next version of Android altogether before sending any update out to the popular device. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software has been rolling out since late October last year.
Sprint and Verizon Wireless were the first two mobile carriers to get the update out to the Galaxy S4 device and since then it has been hit or miss as to what news you are going to hear for US Cellular, T-Mobile and AT&T. According to one mobile carrier overseas, the Android 4.4 KitKat will be coming by the end of the month and that means it could be seen in the United States shortly afterwards as that is typically how it plays out for new mobile software. Some mobile carriers have reported issues with the new software and have delayed its release until they can troubleshoot the issues.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software brought some improvements for the device, as well as support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Samsung Knox security suite and other enhancements that many of the users have been waiting months to get their hands on. Up to this point the Android 4.4 KitKat software has not been announced by Samsung so the it is all up in the air until then. In the meantime, there are a couple of updates to the Jelly Bean version that are still getting around to many users.
