The end of year holiday shopping season is very important for smartphone manufacturers, and though the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been a runaway smash hit and continues as a bestseller for those wireless carriers which offer it, at least one wireless network recently dropped its retail price on the 16 GB Galaxy S4 smartphone. Verizon’s version of the flagship Galaxy S4 was recently spotted with a reduced retail price tag at select online retailers.
The Big Red version of the phone now boasts an all-time low on contract retail price tag of just $69. Samsung as a company is coming off back-to-back record quarterly profits and revenues, thanks to smartphones like the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. The Galaxy S4 recently celebrated its 4 millionth sale, now available for roughly 6 months in the United States. This was also the second straight quarter in which Samsung achieved a rather incredible feat as a smartphone manufacturer.
In Q3 this year, Samsung actually shipped more smartphones worldwide than all of its top smartphone rivals combined. And after the Samsung Galaxy S III, the Korean smartphone manufacturer worked diligently to improve battery life on the Galaxy S4, without making the phone bulky, clunky or heavy. They have done an excellent job, as the handset measures just 5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches (136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm), weighing only 4.59 oz (130 g), while still delivering one of the largest displays and power packed hardware packages of any smartphone currently available.
The phone also recently scored a full 17 hours and 31 minutes of single charge talk time, in a recent test against the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, HTC One and HTC One Mini, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the BlackBerry Z10 and the Nokia Lumia 1020. That was good enough to beat out every other phone it was tested against, and all handsets were fully charged and used at the exact same location for an apples to apples comparison. The Galaxy S4 also beat out all those other phones in single charge web browsing time, and the test was conducted by Which? magazine.
The Galaxy S4 offers a large 5.0 inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, at an incredibly high 441 pixels per inch. A third generation layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass protects the display of the fourth-generation Galaxy S smartphone, and the handset is powered by a 1.9 GHz Snapdragon 600 CPU. A generous 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and the handset is also available in a 32 GB model, with both of those versions delivering a microSD slot and rear facing 13.0 megapixel camera with 1,080P HD resolution video capture.
