According to a recent estimate from analysts familiar with both Apple and Samsung, it appears that the Galaxy SIII, the flagship phone of the Korean giant, is not going to be affected despite the lawsuit loss against Apple and the release of the new iPhone 5. It appears that the advertisement campaign against the iPhone has been paying off as customers are quite satisfied with the phone and sales figures have not reduced even marginally. The Samsung Galaxy S III had to overcome the nationwide patent trial between the two companies and the high profile release of the iPhone 5, but it appears to be more than holding its own against Apple’s latest flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is on sale now starting at 149.99.

The estimate is based on a survey by Localytics, an analytics firm that provides analysis and marketing data to the largest publishers of iOS and Android applications. According to its figures, the average sales of the Galaxy SIII have grown by 9% every week since the first week of August. What is more impressive is that its sales have doubled since August 1st, which was only a little while after the Korean giant was handed a $1.05 billion verdict in its trial against Apple. The Galaxy S III’s sales went up by more than 16% during the week the judgment was announced. According to Localytics, this happened because the verdict gave the impression that the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III was very similar to the iPhone and this gave potential buyers a viable substitute for the Apple device.

The next jump in sales of the Galaxy SIII came after the release of the iPhone 5. What is interesting is that in the week leading up to the release of the iPhone 5, the sales of the S III remained the same but went up by 15% in the week the iPhone 5 was launched. This probably implies that buyers were waiting for the iPhone 5 to judge their options better and were likely not impressed by what they saw at Apple’s end and chose to stick with Samsung’s phone.

Right now it looks like the Samsung Galaxy SIII has no intention of slowing down in terms of sales, but future releases, particularly from HTC, Nokia and LG might just have a dampening effect. If the flagship One series from HTC won’t affect sales, the next important event to look forward to is the release of the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 (running Windows Phone 8) in the United States, which is the only remaining big release lined up this year.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon now starting at 149.99.

  1. surprisingly, I am very happy with my S3 still. I’ve owned an android phone before and it disappointed me after about a month of using it. But this phone is something else. Perhaps it is a Samsung thing. My last android phone was a HtC. I think Samsung is the reason why this phone is so great. Its unbelievable. I’ve spent a week playing around with my sisters Iphone 5 and its impressive as usual. But I wouldn’t trade it for my s3. I don’t think I can go back to it after using this 4.8 inch brilliant screen and incredible battery the s3 offers. Its unreal. Between the iphone and s3, I’d say its a toss up. Depends what you’re looking for. If you use voice commands, go with Apple’s Siri. But S3 is better at all the other features. Except maybe, just maybe the ios6 is a little crisper than ics. But that’s only because the Iphone I been playing with doesn’t have anything on it yet. While my s3 is full of apps.
