Ain’t technology great? Technological advancements seem to come quicker and quicker, especially in the smartphone marketplace. And whenever the next greatest thing arrives, the price tag on already popular and powerful smartphones is sometimes positively affected. Take the best-selling Galaxy Note II smartphone for example. With one of the largest high resolution screens ever designed for a mobile handset, the device delivers a smart stylus and native handwriting recognition technology.

Continually a bestseller, the Galaxy Note II Android smartphone/tablet was debuted at IFA 2012 in Berlin, with Samsung dubbing the event “Unpacked”. This year’s IFA industry trade show sees Samsung giving a press event on September 4 in Berlin, just ahead of the IFA opening. Samsung is calling their big event “Unpacked Episode 2″, and there is little doubt the brand-new Galaxy Note 3 will be revealed at that time. When the Galaxy Note II first arrived in November of last year, it was priced at around $299 on contract.
After the Samsung Unpacked Episode 2 press event was announced, the price tag on the Galaxy Note II running on the Verizon Wireless network and offered by Amazon online was slashed to $99 on contract. No doubt this is to protect market share for Verizon after the Galaxy Note 3 arrives, and as is always the case, competition is good for the consumer. This makes the large screen phablet Note II more attractive financially, and will no doubt end up driving more sales growth for Verizon and Amazon in advance of the Galaxy Note 3 arrival.
The Multi-Window feature on the Galaxy Note II is one of its most popular, which actually allows you to create two different miniature screens on the handset’s large 5.55 inch display. This allows you to carry on two entirely different applications or operations at the same time, and you can even integrate the two smaller displays. Samsung is continually adding more applications which support the Multi-Window feature, and though the handset delivers such a large, high-resolution screen, it still measures only 0.37 inches (9.31 mm) in thickness.
The Galaxy Note II on Verizon runs the Jelly Bean Android operating system, and offers a True HD resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels. That display boasts more than 16 million separate colors, and is aligned in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio, generally regarded as the standard for True HD video viewing. 15 hours of talk time can be squeezed from a single battery charge, and the handset is powered by a quad core 1.6 GHz CPU and quad core graphics processor, 2.0 GB of RAM memory, 16 GB of built-in storage space and a storage expanding microSD slot.
