ios7newLast week, Apple released the new iOS 7 software and it was just a few short days later that a security bug was found that allows users to get passed the pass code lock screen with a few short steps granting access to things like Contacts and all of the photos stored on the device.  Apple quickly sent out a fix for that bug in iOS 7.0.1, with another update called iOS 7.0.2 right after that.  The latest update did not fix the issue with getting into locked devices that use the pass code to enter.

It looks like a new lock screen bug has been found and according to users that are complaining, it starts by activating Siri from the lock screen.  Once you have Siri activated you can select FaceTime and when that pops up, put the phone to sleep and when your phone is awakened, swipe to unlock .  Then you will have to answer and end the FaceTime call coming in.  Click the Add Caller button and cancel it right away and it will be then that you will be inside the Phone app.

This new bug will only give you access to the Phone app, unlike all of the information that you could see with the other bug, but it is still something that Apple is going to have to address.  To get into the phone, it will require another phone or computer with FaceTime installed in order to get the bug to work.  It is a process, but someone figured it out and that means others will be able to get around the lock screen as well.  An easy fix would be to keep Siri from working from the lock screen and you can do that from General > Passcode & Fingerprint where you can turn off Siri in the Allow Access When Locked section.

This bug is not quite as serious as users getting access to your Camera Roll or the iPhone Contacts, but it still creates a risk for your information kept on the phone, which is typically more valuable to you than anyone else.  Information kept in the Phone app might not be something that you need to keep private, but you certainly do not want it getting around in public either.
