htconeverizonMultiple analysts, not to mention Android smartphone shoppers, are calling the HTC One smartphone the best and most powerful Android handset ever made. And the argument can certainly be made on the hardware side of the equation alone. The phone has joined the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 as the three best-selling smartphones of 2013, but up till now customers of Verizon have had to do without. That is no longer, as the HTC One 4G Android smartphone is due to officially launch on Verizon on August 22.

The powerful phone runs on a speedy quad core central processor, delivers ample RAM memory, one of the largest high resolution touchscreen displays found on any smartphone, and the industry-leading 468 color pixels located over each inch of display space. All the hubbub over the smartphone finally arriving on Verizon has to do with Verizon’s reputation as the largest and fastest 4G LTE system in the United States. Big Red is found in more than 440 major markets in the US, and the arrival of the multitalented HTC One on that vast and fast Verizon system should make for a guaranteed hit.

The flagship Android phone is well known for delivering an entirely new camera technology. HTC has combined a 4.0 megapixel lens with an advanced CMOS sensor and optical lens system, effectively capturing up to 300% more light than the typical smartphone camera, even those with 8 or 13 megapixel lenses. HTC calls this technology the UltraPixel, and when combined with the BSI (back illuminated sensor), built-in LED flash and wide-angle f/2.0 lens aperture, the rear facing camera is capable of taking photos indoors without a flash.

That rear snapper also delivers multiple special effects and customization features, recording video in 1,080P HD resolution and in stereo sound, as well as capturing slow motion clips in 768 x 432 pixels. The HTC Sense 5.0 user interface is on board and meshes with Android’s Jelly Bean operating system. The handset has been designed in a slim format, measuring just 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness. As referenced above, the display is one of the largest found on any handset, measuring 4.70 inches. That Super LCD 3 screen delivers a Full HD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, offering scratch and chip resistance.

The sealed battery on board the handset delivers a full 16.0 hours of talk time and 8.5 hours of video playback after a full charge, and the HTC One for Verizon will boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T system chip, 2.0 GB of RAM memory and a generous 32 GB of built-in data storage space. The powerful Snapdragon 600 quad core CPU anchoring the hardware package has been clocked at 1.7 GHz, and an Adreno 320 GPU handles all graphics processing.
