Skype has finally been released for the BlackBerry Q10, and is on the way for the BlackBerry Z10. Several unofficial sideloadable applications have arrived recently via third-party developers, but the good news for Skype lovers is that with the release becoming official for the Q10, the Z10 edition cannot be far off. The handset currently retails for around $99 at select online retailers like Amazon, and delivers the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, a speedy dual core processor and large high-resolution screen.
The Blackbery Z10 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.
That BlackBerry 10 OS delivers features like the BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Keyboard and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM). BlackBerry Hub delivers “access to all your conversations at any time, from any app” according to BlackBerry. The app gives you a single destination for all your messaging, social network notifications and messages, and personal and work e-mails. The virtual BlackBerry Keyboard replaces the physical QWERTY keyboard from previous BlackBerries, and actually delivers an artificial intelligence which learns the way that you type.
BBM offers many new features, allowing you to quickly move from text chat to a BBM Video conversation, and the new Screen Share feature of BlackBerry 10 allows you to share your screen and the ability to edit it with friends and contacts. You can also share the view from your camera before you take a pic, to let your friends know exactly what you are snapping. Another neat feature of BBM is the ability to take a snapshot with an ultra-short video before and after the photo. This Time Shift mode then allows you to review and select the best possible picture.
The BlackBerry Z10 is a fully touchscreen interactive device, with a large 4.2 inch LCD display that offers 768 by 1,280 pixel resolution. That delivers a high-end pixel density at 356 pixels per inch. The phone is also slim at 0.35 inches (9.0 mm), and weighs just 4.85 ounces (138 g). That high resolution screen uses more than 16 million colors to render visual displays, and can be manipulated by the standard capacitive, multitouch gestures. Talk time is exceptional at 10.0 hours from a single battery charge, with standby power lasting approximately 13.0 days.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip powers the phone, built around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU. Handling graphics is the Adreno 225 GPU, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is on board. The Z10 also offers microSD support, plus 16 GB of built-in storage. High definition video is captured at 1,080P HD resolution with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and BlackBerry has given the Z10 a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam as well.
You can purchase the Blackberry Z10 at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
