Many are expecting Samsung to reveal the newest model of the Galaxy smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show this month and even with all of the speculation and rumors, it will be surprising to see what the fifth generation will have to offer consumers. Last year the Galaxy S4 showed up around March and is not available at Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, MetroPCS and Cricket. The smartphone offers a 5-inch Super AMOLED touch screen display with full 1080p HD resolution and scratch-resistant glass for protection.
Inside was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor which is a quad-core model clocked at 1.9GHz and was one of the fastest on the market at the time. A graphics processor and 2GB of RAM are also included with the Galaxy S4. An upgrade 13MP camera on the back along with a smaller, 2MP webcam on the front side rounded out the main features of the device. With the Galaxy S5 coming very soon, many are expecting to see it upgraded in just about every one of the features that showed up on the fourth generation. Rumors for the display include on that will measure 5.2-inches in size and it will come with a QHD resolution.
That brings a resolution of 2560×1440 and offers a whopping 520 pixels per inch, which is much higher than any other smartphone on the market right now. The Galaxy S5 could also feature a 64-bit processor which allows for better performance which many can confirm with the latest iPhone 5S model. There is talk that there could be 4GB of RAM on the device, but for reality purposes, 3GB of RAM is certainly expected this time around. A 16MP camera has been rumored as a focal point for Samsung and the addition of a 4,000mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is most likely to arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed and the TouchWiz user interface placed neatly over the top of that. The user interface brings features to the home screen that are unique to Samsung devices and that is expected again with the S5. Rumors were suggesting that the popular fingerprint scanner could be included in the new design, but that has not been confirmed or denied at this time. The new model is likely to show up on all carriers in the United States and could carry a price close to $500 without a contract.
