Xperia Z1S'Sony has some of the best, high end smartphones on the market with its Xperia line of devices, but there have not been all that many people buying them compared to the smartphones from Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC and others.  The Consumer Electronics Show this week has been a very good place to learn more about devices that are coming down the pipe this year and the Sony Xperia Z1S is one of them.  With the announcement, Sony noted that the device will be making its way to the T-Mobile network by the 22nd of January.

Sony announced the Xperia Z last year at this time and it might have been the only thing worth listening to at the show in regards to Sony and the fact that the Z was released almost one month later caused the sales to be stale and it looks like Sony is going to ride the excitement of the CES this year.  Releasing the Xperia Z1S shortly after the show will help consumers remember what they saw at the show and give them a reason to seek out the device, which is set to launch on the T-Mobile network.

Pre-orders for the device will start next week and even though the device has been for sale in other regions of the world, the features are likely to gain plenty of attention around here.  The 5-inch touch screen display with 1080p HD resolution is a good place to start, not to mention that it will also be powered by the super fast, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM.  Internal memory is listed at 32GB and it looks like the Xperia is going to come with the 20.7MP camera on the back side.

All of the specs are pretty impressive, but there is one thing to note about it that might get your attention even faster.  The smartphone is waterproof and can be submerged up to 5 feet for up to 30 minutes at a time.  According to reports, the Xperia Z1S will not be running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, rather it will have Android 4.3 Jelly Bean installed.  Sony also has its own user interface that it will place over the top and that will change the vanilla experience just enough to notice.  T-Mobile will offer the smartphone at $0 down and $22 per month for 24 months.
