When talking about LTE coverage in US shores, Verizon is still the league leader among wireless providers in our side of the world with the breadth and width of its LTE network. AT&T comes in at the second spot while Sprint with its nascent LTE network is at third place. Verizon has this lead over AT&T and Sprint because it has almost a year of headstart in the rollout of its network while AT&T and Sprint are still trying to catch up with what Big Red has achieved so far.

In fairness to Sprint, the Now Network is little by little building up its LTE network as part of its Network Vision initiative and hopes to be more competitive in terms of LTE coverage in US shores. With that, the carrier has taken an expansionist approach in the rollout of its network and has recently announced that it is flipping the switch of its LTE network in 9 new markets. These new markets which now have access to Sprint’s ultra-fast mobile internet network include:
- Altoona, Pa.
- Asheville, N.C.
- Columbus, Ind.
- Elkhart/Goshen, Ind.
- Hammond, La
- La Crosse, Wis.
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Statesville, N.C.
- Temple, Texas
With this expansion, Sprint is little by little extending its coverage to more people in US shores and hopes to be in league with Verizon and AT&T in terms of LTE coverage. With this recent expansion, Sprint subscribers rocking an LTE-capable handset such as the HTC EVO 4G LTE living in the areas mentioned above can now take advantage of all the benefits brought to the table by the carrier’s LTE coverage such as lightning fast mobile internet speeds.
As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset is one of the more notable offerings of the Now Network and was unveiled back in April of last year. The handset however failed to make it to its initially planned launch date because it got held up at the US Customs while the International Trade Commission put the HTC EVO 4G LTE through a thorough once-over following Apple’s lawsuit claiming that the HTC smartphone infringed on some of the patents of the Cupertino-based company. The handset comes with 16GB of internal memory which can further be expanded by using the device’s dedicated microSD card slot. As for its display, the HTC EVO 4G LTE sports a 4.7-inh Super IPS LCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.

I am so totally outraged at Sprint and there “wonderful” 4G network. They have been selling phones for 3 years that are supposed to go at these 4G speeds but I have yet to see it. Dan Hesse is nothing but a liar and I fail to see what the HTC Evo 4G LTE has to do with the 4G signal as the title implies. Is Sprint expanding their LTE service for the iPhone 5? How about the Samsung Galaxy III?
