Since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was released late last year, the Google flagship handset instantly became one of the best-selling handsets in the Android ecosystem given the fact that it is the first Android smartphone to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich out of the box. The seeming popularity of the handset however was lost among wireless providers in US shores with only Verizon deeming it feasible to have the handset to its lineup of android-powered devices.

Sprint though a bit late also announced plans of offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and these past couple of days, we’ve been bombarded with news reports that the wireless provider is already in the last stages of preparation for the launch of the handset. In addition to that, there were a couple of rumors that surfaced with regard to the supposed April 22release date of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. We’ve heard reports of leaked promotional materials for the handset that are supposed to be put up by April 15 which gives Sprint a 7-day headstart in promoting the Samsung Galaxy Nexus before the supposed April 22 launch. More recently, another leaked clearly indicated that the handset can be expected to make its debut on the said date. After all the speculations, Sprint finally puts all these rumors to rest by confirming that its version of the Google flagship smartphone will indeed hit its shelves come April 22.
In fact, Sprint already put up a preorder page for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in its website where customers who want to be the first to get their hands on the handset have the option to order it ahead of time. Also, in the same preorder page, the wireless provider confirms that it will try to get the handset to those who will preorder before April 22 which eventually confirmed the release date for the handset. The Sprint version of the handset is almost similar to the one offered by Verizon with one glaring difference – Sprint’s variant of the device will pack support for Google Wallet and if you activate the feature within a week of activating the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Sprint, you instantly get a $10 credit on your Google Wallet account with another $40 being added on to the account within three weeks. Sprint has given its version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus a price point of $199.99 with a new two-year agreement with the carrier.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus not only packs support for Google Wallet as mentioned earlier but the handset will also spearhead the LTE lineup of Sprint which is said to have its 4G LTE network lit up this coming June thereby joining the ranks of Verizon and AT&T in the LTE bandwagon in US shores. With the addition of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to the Android lineup of the wireless provider, we expect the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to instantly become a hit with Sprint, pretty much like what happened with the device when it was offered by Verizon.
The Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available starting at $79.
