The HTC EVO 4G LTE from Sprint has been in the headlines for the past couple of days now. When you come to think of it, the handset is by far the best handset to be added on to the carrier’s lineup of Android-powered smartphones. It even packs support for the LTE network of Sprint which is said to get the green light to go online later this year. This means that subscribers of the wireless carrier who will rock the HTC EVO 4G LTE for their mobile weapon of choice will have access to a handset that will let them enjoy the LTE network of the Sprint once it gets lit up.

The journey of the HTC EVO 4G LTE to the shelves of Sprint however wasn’t smooth-sailing. The handset initially was supposed to launch last May 18 but the handset got stuck at the US Customs because of an exclusion order from the International Trade Commission. This exclusion order required the ITC to review and investigate the HTC EVO 4G LTE due to Apple’s complaints that the HTC handset allegedly infringed on some of its patents.
HTC however was able to take care of this and took the infringing code off of the firmware of the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Because of this, the handset finally got the green light to start shipping. This much was confirmed by Sprint and HTC a couple of days ago and the wireless provider also announced that the handset will make its debut in the shelves in the next few days. There was no ETA mentioned at that time but now, Sprint has finally announced the good news that the HTC EVO 4G LTE will finally become available starting June 2.
In addition to the announcement, Sprint also said that its retail stores will still be operating on regular business hours even on a Saturday to ensure that all of our smartphone-crazed brethren who would want to get their hands on the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be able to do so. Also, the handset will be made available not only in brick and mortar stores of the wireless provider but via online and telesales as well giving prospective buyers more options in getting themselves one of these bad boys.
As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset already comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich out of the box and has its circuitry built around a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This basically gives the smartphone dual-core capabilities with a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz while its system memory comes up to a full gigabyte of RAM. The handset has an onboard storage pegged at 16GB but a microSD card slot will enable a user to beef up the internal memory of the HTC EVO 4G LTE should it be not enough for his storage needs. The display of the handset on the other hand is a 4.7-inch SuperIPS LCD2 panel made from Gorilla Glass and has 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department gives the HTC EVO 4G LTE a rear-facing 8MP shooter capable of 1080p recording and a 1.3MP front-facer for self-portraits and video chats. If the LTE has an SD card, I’d sure like to know where it is. I also show only 8GB of internal storage on my device. Only had it two days, but at least it’s already rooted.
