When the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone hit the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in December of last year, it was exclusive to that wireless service provider. However, Samsung recently contracted Sprint to also sell that handset in the United States, and in order to capture as much market share as possible away from their competitor, Sprint recently made a retail price reduction which makes you, the smartphone shopper, the winner. That handset is now only $0.01 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan at select retailers on Sprint’s newly launched 4G LTE wireless network.

The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers Android’s 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, and Google announced just two months ago that they would be releasing the new 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system update over the air to that device before any other smartphones. No official launch date was given, however unofficial Jelly Bean 4.1 ROM updates have already made their way to the Internet. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G has one of the largest displays found on any phone, wireless Near Field Communications (NFC) capabilities, a powerful dual core processor and HD video capture.

Running the handset is a 1.2 GHz central processor and graphics specific GPU that are both part of the Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip suite on board the handset. Delivering the most built-in, user accessible data storage of any 4G smartphone out-of-the-box, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus comes equipped with 32 GB of storage built-in. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is also on board, and up to 7.5 hours of talk time are delivered from a single charge of the 1,850 mA battery on board the handset.

High resolution video capture is delivered via the rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the Galaxy Nexus handset, and around front is a 1.3 megapixel chat cam. That chat cam can also be used for capturing portrait snapshots, and placing or receiving video calls. That rear snapper captures video at 1,080P HD resolution, and in the multimedia package on board the handset, a proprietary YouTube video player joins an audio player that sorts by album, artist or play list.

The Galaxy Nexus comes preloaded with Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail and Google Search ready for use out-of-the-box, and the 4.65 inch Super AMOLED screen runs a high-end resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, delivered at 316 pixels per inch. More than 16 million colors are used to create visuals, and standard multitouch, capacitive gestures are used to navigate the device.  Buy the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus starting at just one penny!
