Generally a price tag reserved for low-end feature phones and non-performers, the $0.01 on contact retail price was recently bestowed upon the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G running on the Sprint 4G LTE network. That handset recently received the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system update, and delivers one of the largest high resolution displays on any smartphone. Simultaneous voice and data access are possible on the 4G LTE system Sprint, the first such network that Sprint has ever delivered.
The Galaxy Nexus for Sprint is available for a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
The handset arrived on the Sprint network on April 22 of this year, but it wasn’t until little over a month ago that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G was given the speedy 4G LTE Sprint network to run on. You can now browse the web, download applications and check your e-mail while in the middle of a voice call, and Sprint says that download speeds of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps), and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps, can be expected in their 4G LTE mobile broadband coverage areas.
The first handset to deliver the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system to a smartphone in the US more than a year ago, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G still boasts one of the largest and highest resolution displays found on any mobile handset. Skinny at 0.37 inches (9.47 mm), the Galaxy Nexus has a large 4.65 inch screen with scratch resistant Oleophobic coating. Resolution runs extremely high at 316 pixels per inch, for an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.
That Super AMOLED display accepts standard capacitive, multitouch gestures, and helps conserve battery power with its built-in light and proximity sensors. Talk time runs 7.5 hours from a single battery charge, with standby battery power running 6.2 days. One of the first handsets to deliver a dual core processor with dedicated GPU and 32 GB of built-in storage, the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G is powered by a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 CPU.
Also contained in the Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip package is a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, and 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board. The camcorder is a 5.0 megapixel model built into the back of the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G, delivering an LED flash, autofocus, panorama mode and special effects package. Video is captured at a rate of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD resolution), and the front facing chat cam offers video call functionality.
You can purchase the Galaxy Nexus for Sprint at a reduced price now starting at $0.01.
