Sprint with its nascent LTE network may only be at the third spot following Verizon at first and AT&T at second in terms of LTE coverage in US shores but the Now Network is slowly but surely expanding its coverage. A couple of months back, the wireless provider announced that its LTE network is expected to get lit up in 100 new markets in the coming months and Sprint is keeping its word by announcing that 11 new locales are now covered by its LTE network.

These new markets that will now be able to enjoy the blazing fast mobile internet speeds brought about by the LTE network of Sprint are as follows:

  • Anderson, Ind.
  • Clarke County, Va./Jefferson County, W.Va.
  • Harrisburg/Carlisle/Hershey, Pa.
  • Hagerstown, Md./Martinsburg, W.Va.
  • Harrisonburg, Va.
  • Muncie, Ind.
  • Peabody, Mass.
  • Salina, Kan.
  • Shenandoah County, Va.
  • South Bend/Mishawaka, Ind.
  • Winchester, Va.

With these new additional locations, the total number of markets with Sprint LTE coverage now comes up to 43 markets. Still a far cry when compared to what Verizon has managed to achieve so far but Big Red has had a huge headstart in terms of its 4G LTE network but at the rate Sprint is going at the moment, the carrier’s LTE coverage will soon be at par with that of Big Red’s in due time.

Of course, this latest LTE expansion of Sprint only means that users of LTE-capable Sprint handsets such as the HTC EVO 4G LTE now have more areas to bask in and enjoy the benefits of the carrier’s LTE coverage.

As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset gained infamy even before it hit the shelves because it got held up at the US Customs while the International Trade Commission subjected the handset to a thorough once-over after Apple filed a lawsuit claiming the HTC handset infringed on some of its patents. Google and HTC were quick to revisit the firmware of the handset to take off the infringing code which gotten the approval of the ITC for the handset to continue on its journey to the shelves of Sprint.

The addition of the HTC EVO 4G LTE to the Android portfolio of the Now Network was announced as early as April but it was delayed for several weeks before it finally made its debut in the shelves of the carrier. Under the hood, the circuitry of the handset is built around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM.

The storage space onboard the handset comes up to 16GB but a user can use the microSD card slot of the HTC EVO 4G LTE for memory expansion purposes. Display-wise, the HTC EVO 4G LTE sports a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration features a main 8MP shooter at its back panel while its front bezel is home to the handset’s 1.3MP snapper.
