The Galaxy Nexus 4G arrived on the scene late last year just in time for the holiday shopping season. The handset offered what were then very desirable features, such as the much-anticipated and long-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 Android operating system, the most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage, and a large high-resolution display in a slim body. A year after its arrival, the handset still ranks as one of the better performing smartphones in the entire mobile marketplace, and recently received a retail price reduction to around $19 on contract through Sprint at the Amazon Wireless store.

The Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available for a reduced price now starting at $0.01.

It is only fitting that the handset receive Jelly Bean 4.1 before most other smartphones, as it was the first to deliver ICS to a US handset last year. The upgrade to the Google Now application, better camera operability, and a quicker, smoother interface are all hallmarks of the Jelly Bean OS, and give the Galaxy Nexus 4G for Sprint new life. The 32 GB of built-in data storage, 1.2 GHz central processor and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory all make the handset perform excellently with the operating system upgrade on the new Sprint 4G LTE system in the United States.

Sprint has vowed that LTE network will have more than 100 major Metropolitan markets up and running before the end of 2012. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G is slim at 0.37 inches (9.47 mm), and contains a scratch resistant layer of glass on top of the 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display. Pixel density runs high 316 pixels per inch, with overall display resolution at 720 x 1,280 pixels. More than 16 million colors are present on that display, and the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G employs a proximity sensor that helps conserve battery life by dimming the display when you lift the handset to make or receive a voice call.

The system chip on board is a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 package, with 1.0 GB of RAM memory joining it in the hardware profile. The hardware set also includes a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processor running at 384 MHz, and popular online destinations YouTube and Picasa have been pre-installed. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G was one of the first smartphones to offer Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless support out-of-the-box, offering access to popular applications like Google Wallet and Android Beam.

The handset delivers a rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder and front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam in the camera combo. That rear snapper is capable of recording video in 1,080P HD resolution, and comes equipped with a built-in LED flash, autofocus, touch to focus, white balance presets, Geo tagging and a panorama mode. The chat cam up front can place and receive video calls, and the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G offers mobile hotspot access through Wi-Fi connectivity for multiple wireless devices.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Sprint for a reduced price tag now starting at $0.01.
