Before we know it the holiday shopping season will be upon us. Some smart veteran shoppers have learned over the years that many retail outlets begin announcing their plans for the largest retail shopping day of the year in early October. In that vein, evidently the Sprint wireless network is going to be home to a special Android retail gift that it will deliver to holiday shoppers on November 23 as part of their Black Friday game plan. A screen shot has appeared online along with multiple unconfirmed reports that Sprint will be offering their Galaxy S III smartphone for $49 on contract on November 23, Black Friday only.

No more details were released, so there is no word if this Sprint reduction in retail price will take place at select retail outlets, physical retail outlets only or also online, and Sprint has not officially confirmed. This could be a smart move by Sprint to draw attention to their best-selling Galaxy S III smartphone which is also offered by competing wireless carriers in the United States. In recent Galaxy S III news, the court victory which cost Samsung $1 billion in which a US judge agreed that Samsung infringed on Apple copyrights seems not to have slowed down sales of the popular Android smartphone.
The Galaxy S III smartphone sold more than 20 million units its first 100 days of availability, and offers a large 4.80 inch screen and Android operating system, two differences from the iPhone that have undoubtedly contributed to its sales success. The handset also has an extremely high screen resolution, Near Field Communications (NFC) support, and a speedy dual core processor. Sprint recently launched their brand-new 4G LTE mobile broadband system in the United States, and plans to have more than 100 major Metropolitan areas in the United States covered by the end of the year.
The 4.80 inch Super AMOLED screen on the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III is one of the largest found on any mobile handset, and a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 overlays that display. Super thin at only 0.34 inches (8.6 mm), the handset is also light at 4.70 ounces (132 g). The pixel density of 316 pixels per inch lies at the extreme high end of the mobile arena, and that creates an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, also well above average for a 4G smartphone.
The handset includes a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip suite that is centered around a powerful 1.5 GHz dual core processor, and a separate GPU handles all graphics processing. The Galaxy S III is one of the first smartphones in the world to offer 2.0 GB of RAM system memory, and also offers 16 GB of storage out-of-the-box. A microSD slot is on board for storage expansion, accepting cards up to 64 GB in size, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides simultaneous HD image and video capture, recording video at 1,080P HD resolution.
