Officially announced on June 4, the Sprint Galaxy S III landed on the Sprint wireless network on June 21 this year. The new Sprint 4G LTE network in the US is home to the Galaxy S III, and simultaneous voice and data access is offered. Now that the Galaxy S III is available from all major wireless providers in the United States, pricing battles have led to some wonderful opportunities for Android smartphone shoppers. In an attempt to attract market share away from the competition, select retailers have recently reduced the Sprint GS III retail price to sub $100 levels.

The Samsung Galaxy S III for Sprint is on sale now starting at 99.99.

The GS III also recently received the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS in an OTA transfer, and the handset offers one of the largest high resolution displays of any mobile handset. Measuring 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) in thickness, the handset is also one of the thinnest available today. At 4.70 ounces (133 g), the Galaxy S III for Sprint is lighter than most 4G LTE smartphones. Samsung includes its TouchWiz UX UI Android overlay, and standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the device.

The large 4.0 inch screen is a Super AMOLED model, with 720 x 1,280 pixel resolution. That is delivered at 306 pixels per inch, one of the highest pixel densities found on any mobile PC or smartphone. The GS III renders visuals in more than 16 million colors, and standard light and proximity sensors are built-in. The handset also benefits from a scratch resistant layer of glass over the display, and 9.20 hours of talk time are provided from a single charge of the 2,100 mA battery on board, approximately 15% better than the average 4G LTE handset delivers.

The hardware package on board the handset is anchored by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip suite, including a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor. An Adreno 225 chip handles all graphics processing, and the GS III is one of the first handsets to deliver a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory. With 32 GB of built-in, user accessible data storage out-of-the-box, the handset delivers the most built-in storage of any smartphone. A microSD slot has been included for storage expansion.

An 8.0 megapixel camcorder is built into the back of the handset, and up front is a 1.9 megapixel chat cam. That rear device provides simultaneous high definition video and image recording, and the front facing chat cam can be used for video calls. Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution by the camcorder, and a built-in music player comes with both custom and preset equalizers. A proprietary YouTube video player has been pre-installed, as have Twitter, Picasa and Facebook applications.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S III for Sprint now starting at 99.99.
