A couple of days back, rumors started circulating that an update is headed to the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE. At that time, it wasn’t mentioned as to what update is about to land on the handset but speculations were strong that it will be the much-awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the device. True enough, a couple of days later, we finally get the confirmation that Sprint has finally gotten around to rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the HTC EVO 4G LTE.
The HTC Evo 4G LTE is available for a reduced price tag now starting at $49.99.
The update is now being rolled out as of today via the usual OTA manner so expect that little notification to pop up on your handset once the update is already available on your device. Or, if you already lost the patience in waiting for too long, you also have the option of manually searching for the update to get the process rolling. As is always the case, the rollout will be staggered which simply means that not everybody will get the update all at the same time. So if you don’t get it right away, a little more patience is required. Relax, that update’ll turn up sooner or later.
Once the update has been applied to the HTC EVO 4G LTE, it will crank up the software version of the handset to version 3.15.651.16 and will bring the following goodies and treats to the device:
- Upgrade to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
- HTC Sense 4+
- Improved camera capabilities and gallery
- HTC Get Started Support – the HTC Get Started website lets customers set up their new smartphone from their home computer
- Wi-Fi Authentication improvement
- Personalized ringtone issue fixed
- Hyperlinks routing to phone app from calendar description issue fixed
- Calendar improvement
This is a very nice gift to all HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone users who had to endure for the longest time the experience of having to read stuff about Jelly Bean and how it is being rolled out to other devices while at the same time rocking a handset that is perfectly more than capable of handling the said version of Android. With Jelly Bean running in the guts of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset is now definitely better, faster and stronger.
As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset was announced back in April but got delayed and only managed to hit the shelves a couple of months later. Its circuitry is built around a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space on the handset comes up to 16GB but the HTC EVO 4G LTE comes with a microSD card slot for memory expansion purposes. In terms of its display, the handset sports a 4.7-inch SuperIPS LCD2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
You can purchase the HTC Evo 4G LTE for a discounted price now starting at $49.99.
