When the HTC EVO 4G LTE is being discussed, the first thing that comes to people’s mind is that this is the handset that missed its original launch date because it got held up at the US Customs while the International Trade Commission subjected the handset to a thorough review and investigation after Apple claimed that the handset infringed on some of its patents. The handset only got the green light to hit the shelves after HTC revisited the firmware of the HTC EVO 4G LTE and removed the offending code.
But when Sprint announced the addition of the HTC EVO 4G LTE to its lineup of Android-powered devices, one of the features of the handset that the carrier boasted about is the HTC EVO 4G LTE’s capability to support HD Voice. For the uninitiated, HD Voice technology stands to make conversations on mobile devices crystal clear and the handset will be one of the very first smartphones in US shores to support this technology.
And now, Sprint has finally confirmed that the EVO 4G LTE will eventually support HD Voice technology later this year. However, there is a snag in all this – for smartphone users to enjoy the HD Voice experience when making and receiving calls, both the caller and the receiver should use handsets that both support this technology. And since the HTC EVO 4G LTE is the only handset in US shores that packs support for this feature, everyone should rock this handset to take full advantage of HD Voice.
Again, the snags do not end there – Sprint also needs to have a massive handset base of HD Voice-supporting handsets to gives its subscribers a choice of handset to use and the carrier needs to do this fast to make HD Voice work. The only things is that even before HD Voice becomes a reality, other wireless carriers are already looking into Voice over LTE (VoLTE) which is intended to make voice calls very clear as well just like with Skype or Google Talk so Sprint needs to move things along in a faster manner.
As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, this handset is one of the more popular devices in the stable of Sprint and it shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system out of the box. A QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset powers the operation of the handset and the computing power required by the handset is delivered by its dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM. The storage space of the HTC EVO 4G LTE is pegged at 16GB but a microSD card slot in its chassis enables a user to further expand the internal memory of the handset. In terms of its display, the HTC EVO 4G LTE comes with a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 panel with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration features a main 8MP shooter at its back panel while a 1.3MP video call camera can be found in the front bezel of the handset.
