htconeCurrently available for $79 on contract at the Amazon Wireless store online, the Sprint HTC One is in the midst of a software update. The update started rolling out over the air on July 17, and should make its way to most North American handsets over the next few days. Software version 1.31.651.2 is not a large software bump, but it does add Sprint Music to your list of available ringtones. On your Sprint HTC One, simply head over to your phone’s Settings > About Phone > Check for System Updates to activate the software boost.

The HTC One 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.

The update also delivers what Sprint is calling HD Voice enhancement, and a few minor tweaks. Since the handset hit the Sprint 4G LTE network in the United States on April 18, it has sold more than 5 million global units. An Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update recently arrived on the handset in India and Europe, and is heading West to North America. The HTC One offers NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, as well as front facing dual speakers and the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package.

The phone also delivers a Stereo FM radio with RDS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and DLNA connectivity options, and you can even use it to control your television or home stereo system. The HTC One also boasts one of the largest Full HD displays found on any smartphone at 4.7 inches, as well as industry-leading pixel density with 468 color pixels located over each inch of display space. The phone is designed with a durable metal unibody, and measures a slim 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness.

The HTC One 4G Android smartphone makes for an excellent low-light and night-time camera, due to its BSI (back illuminated sensor), built-in LED flash and extra-wide f/2.0 lens. The camera introduces us to a new photo technology called the UltraPixel, which takes a 4.0 megapixel sensor and combines it with advanced CMOS image sensor, ISP and optical lens to capture up to 300% more light than the typical smartphone camera. The 2.0 UltraPixel shooter records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and can also capture slow motion clips at 768 x 432 pixels.

An extensive special effects package and multiple customization features are on board that camera, and the front facing chat cam also offers Skype and video call support. Running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system, the HTC One delivers up to 16.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge, and is run by a powerful 1.7 GHz quad core CPU. The phone also delivers ample RAM memory at 2.0 GB, providing a full 32 GB of built-in data storage space.

The HTC One 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
