On October 25 the new Sprint 4G LTE system in the US received the Galaxy Note II phablet. That handset was the first Samsung smartphone to deliver the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box. That OS delivers the Google Now contextual search virtual personal assistant, and a much smoother and quicker user interface. The handset has also received SAFE designation, as it includes extra security features which protect your sensitive and personal data. The Galaxy Note II is available in titanium gray or marble white, and delivers the handwriting recognition technology and smart stylus S Pen that debuted with the original Galaxy Note.
With simultaneous voice and data access on the Sprint network, you can surf the web, send e-mails and text while enjoying videos and movies, and the S Pen technology allows you to scribble down directions, notes or messages in your own handwriting. With the largest screen of any smartphone, the dimensions are larger overall than the typical 4G handset at 5.94 x 3.16 x 0.37 inches (151 x 80 x 9 mm). But considering the fact that the Galaxy Note II delivers a quad core processor, battery life is outstanding at nearly twice the 4G smartphone average.
The 3,100 mA battery on board the handset offers 15.0 hours of talk time and 12.0 hours of standby from a single charge. The 5.55 inch Super AMOLED screen has an above average pixel density of 265 pixels every inch, which results in an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. That touchscreen delivers a true 16 to 9 HD aspect ratio, and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2. More than 16 million colors are present in visual displays on the Sprint Galaxy Note II, and standard light and proximity sensors offer auto brightness adjustment and battery conservation.
Samsung has chosen their own Exynos 4 (4412) microchip set to power the device, and at its anchor is a quad core ARM Cortex A9 central processor clocked at an impressive 1.6 GHz. An ARM Mali-400 MP4 (Quad-Core) GPU handles all graphics processing, and 16 GB of storage are built into the handset. The Galaxy Note II offers double the average amount of RAM memory for a 4G smartphone at 2.0 GB, with microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC support for external memory cards up to 64 GB in size.
Built into the back of the Galaxy Note II is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder, with LED flash and extensive customization features. That camcorder records video at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1080p HD) and at 30 frames per second. Up front is a 1.9 megapixel chat cam which provides video call support, and a Stereo FM radio with RDS joins a YouTube video player in the multimedia package. Facebook, Picasa and Twitter applications have been pre-installed, and the handset is NFC (Near Field Communications) compatible.
You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Note II for Sprint at a reduced price now starting at 279.99.
