To properly introduce the LG Optimus G smartphone, one must first understand that the Samsung Galaxy S III has been without a doubt the king of the hill in the smartphone competition. This does not come as a surprise at all – the handset after all is the current flagship device of the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer. Not only that, the handset packs a very impressive specs sheet and brings even more impressive capabilities to the tablet. Which is why the handset has already racked in 20 million in sales in just a hundred days after it hit the shelves back in May. For the longest time, no smartphone was capable enough to pose a real challenge to the Samsung Galaxy S III.
Until now.
The LG Optimus G is available for pre-order at select online retailers now starting at 149.99.
The competition comes from another Korean electronics giant in the form of LG and its LG Optimus G superphone. We’ve known about the handset for quite some time now and have heard mostly good things about it. In fact, some of our smartphone-crazed brethren claim that if there was one handset that could challenge the superiority of the Samsung flagship device, the LG Optimus G would be it.
In US shores, the smartphone-buying population will have a chance to get their hands on this bad boy courtesy of Sprint and AT&T. Both carriers have not released any solid word as of yet as to when exactly the LG Optimus G will become available in their respective shelves but Sprint already went ahead and started taking preorders for the handset.
Should you be interested in making the Sprint version of the LG Optimus G 4G your next mobile weapon of choice, the handset can now be pre-ordered via Sprint’s website. The LG Optimus G will set you back by $199.99 and comes with a new two-year service agreement with the carrier. Sprint however has promised that it will do its best to get the smartphone to those who will preorder it before November 11.
As for the LG Optimus G, the addition of the handset to the portfolio of Sprint’s Android-powered devices was announced last month. The handset still looks like your typical Android handset with its black colorway and form factor. Its measurements come up to 131.9 x 68.9 x 8.5 mm and it tips the scales at 144.9 grams.
Under the hood, the LG Optimus G will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but with its impressive specs sheet, there is no way that this superphone will not get upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The circuitry of the handset is built around its QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon S4 chipset which comes with a quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor while its Ram comes up to a whopping 2GB. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage while its display is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS + LCP panel with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. Its dual shooter configuration on the other hand boasts of a rear 13MP (nope, that’s not a typo) shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
