galaxynexusThe Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone was a game changer when it arrived in the United States in December of 2011. Offering the much-anticipated and long-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 Android operating system with cutting-edge features like Face Unlock, the handset was the first to deliver that OS to the US. Fast forward more than a year later and the Galaxy Nexus 4G is boasting the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system with a faster and smoother user interface, improved camera operation and upgraded Google Now. The handset currently retails for a $0.01 on contract at the Amazon Wireless store online.

The Galaxy Nexus arrived on the Sprint operating system in the US on April 22, and with the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS and upgraded Sprint 4G LTE network, the Galaxy Nexus 4G running on the speedy Sprint system has experienced a rebirth of sorts. Even though the handset has been around for more than a year, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G still delivers one of the largest and highest resolution displays of any smartphone. And on the Sprint 4G LTE network, you receive simultaneous voice and data access.

This means that you can surf the web, download an application, or check your e-mail without interrupting a voice call. The handset is one of the slimmest you will find as well, measuring only 0.37 (9.47 mm) inches thick. One of the first handsets to offer NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G also arrives with a built-in music player, and popular applications YouTube and Picasa pre-installed. The Super AMOLED display runs 4.65 inches, and is protected by a scratch resistant Oleophobic coating .

Resolution runs to the high-end of the smartphone marketplace, at 720 x 1,280 pixels. This is delivered at a high level of 316 pixels per every inch of display space, and more than 16 million colors are present. Standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are supported, and you can expect at least 7.50 hours of talk time from a single battery charge. Texas Instruments has given the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G their OMAP 4460 microchip package, and this is built around a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor.

On board as well is a PowerVR SGX540 GPU that handles all graphics processing, 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of built-in data storage. The 5.0 megapixel camcorder built into the back of the Sprint Galaxy 4G comes equipped with an LED flash, and offers autofocus, white balance, geo-tagging, panorama mode and special effects package. That rear facing snapper provides video capture at a rate of 1,920 x 1,080 (1,080p HD resolution), while the front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam provides video call support.
