The Sprint variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note II is frequently found on the top 10 smartphone best-sellers list at Amazon. And with Amazon reducing the handset to its lowest price ever, $99 on contract, the best-selling smartphone will probably continue to be a popular choice for Android smartphone shoppers. A couple of the new features delivered to the Galaxy Note II which were not found on the previous and original Galaxy Note are a Multi-Window screen, enhanced S Pen experience and Jelly Bean operating system.
The Galaxy Note II is the first phone made by Samsung that offers the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box, and combines that with a convenient split screen feature for its large 5.55 inch display. The Multi-Window application divides that huge screen into two active windows, allowing you to carry on two totally different operations at the same time. You can choose to watch a high definition movie while checking your e-mail, or perhaps surf the web on one window while downloading an application on the other.
The smart stylus S Pen which integrates the handset with native handwriting recognition technology has been created 8 mm longer and 1 mm thicker, and has a more natural feel to it than the one which debuted on the original Galaxy Note. The new built-in hover feature also reveals information about a possible website or application before you click on it, simply by holding the head of the stylus just above the screen. Contextual awareness is also present, and a pop-up screen lists the popular S Pen related applications when you remove the stylus from its cradle. Also, if that stylus travels too far from home, you can set up visual and audible alarms.
The Sprint 4G LTE system received the Galaxy Note II smartphone on October 25 of last year, and the handset arrives in a slim 0.37 inch (9.3 mm) profile. NFC wireless support is present out-of-the-box, and the Sprint Galaxy Note II offers a Stereo FM radio with RDS, YouTube video player and built-in music player in its multimedia package. The 16 to 9 aspect ratio has long been regarded as the industry-standard for true HD video viewing, and that is how the 5.55 inch Super AMOLED display is aligned.
A layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 offers scratch resistance, and resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels. Talk time is exceptional for such a power-hungry processor and large display, with a full 15.0 hours offered from a full battery charge. The CPU is a quad core 1.6 GHz chip, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory has been installed. 16 GB of onboard closet space is present, with a microSD slot allowing storage expansion capabilities. Video can be captured at 1,080P HD resolution, thanks to the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder.
