The Samsung Galaxy S III is offered in both 16 GB and 32 GB versions on the Sprint 4G LTE system in the United States. The 16 GB model enters the new year with an attractive price tag, retailing for around $99 on contract at the Amazon Wireless store online. That handset hit the Sprint network on June 21 of last year, but it wasn’t until late 2012 that Sprint started their first ever 4G LTE network. That gives the Sprint Galaxy S III a quicker network, and the new Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system helps deliver a smoother and faster user interface.

The handset also contains the popular Samsung TouchWiz UX UI Android overlay, and it supports typical multitouch, capacitive gestures. Skinny at 0.34 inches (8.6 mm), the handset is also light compared to other 4G smartphones, weighing 4.70 ounces (133 g). Light and slim though it may be, the Sprint Galaxy S III contains one of the largest high resolution screens found on any mobile handset. That 4.0 inch Super AMOLED display is protected against scratches and chips and everyday wear and tear by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
Resolution is high at 720 x 1,280 pixels, and that is delivered at a rate of 306 pixels spread over each inch of display space. Also offering more than 16 million separate colors on that screen, the display contains light and proximity sensors which automatically adjust for the proper display brightness considering your surrounding environment, and dim the display after periods of non-use. This also helps preserve battery power, and accordingly, the Sprint Galaxy S III delivers 15% better battery performance than the standard 4G smartphone.
A full 9.20 hours of talk time can be expected from a single charge of the 2,100 mA battery on board. The hardware package is anchored by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 suite of microchips, with a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU at its core. An Adreno 225 GPU has been added for graphics processing, and 2.0 GB of RAM memory are joined by 32 GB of built-in storage on the Sprint Galaxy S III. Storage can be accentuated by accessing the built-in microSD slot.
The handset offers NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, and popular social networking destinations Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Picasa have been pre-installed. Built into the back of the Sprint Galaxy S III is a camcorder of 8.0 megapixels, capable of 1,080P HD resolution video recording and simultaneous HD video and image capture. The handset also offers a 1.9 megapixel front facing chat cam for video calls and portrait snapshots.
